My last post showed strong e-bus growth with 4.5% penetration.
But reality hits with 100 breakdowns daily.
In my last post, we discussed e-bus growth.
Penetration reached 4.5% in FY26.
Last year, it was 3.5%.
Volumes crossed 4,100 units now.
But Bengaluru shows a different story entirely.
BMTC runs 1,730 e-buses today.
They saw 100 breakdowns daily.
Total breakdowns touched 8,995 cases.
65% were battery-related failures.
High load increases current demand.
Traffic causes frequent acceleration cycles.
Poor roads add mechanical stress. ⚙️
Range drops under these conditions.
Scheduled kilometers get cancelled often.
Operators reported up to 13% cancellations.
Breakdowns create traffic pile-ups.
They block lanes during peak hours.
Passenger trust drops quickly. 🚍
Revenue loss becomes unavoidable.
Growth is exciting.
But reliability decides long-term success.
Are we designing e-buses for lab conditions
or real Indian traffic duty cycles?
But are we scaling faster than reliability?
