Tata Nano failed as a car.Could it succeed as an EV?

I just read an interesting Autopunditz report.

It hints at a possible Nano EV comeback.

As a motor engineer, I find this interesting.

With my experience in EVs for more than two decades,

The Nano philosophy still makes sense today. 

Compact size. 

Efficient packaging. 

Low energy consumption. 

Simple urban mobility. 

Smaller batteries reduce weight and cost. 

Motor efficiency becomes even more critical. 

Thermal management must remain compact too. 

Lower weight reduces motor torque requirements.

Efficient motors can further reduce battery size.

That creates a powerful design loop.

This reinforces my earlier point:

System optimization is the real opportunity.

Battery, motor, and gearing must work together.

Even rare-earth-free motors could make sense.

But safety cannot be compromised.

Neither can thermal performance or durability.

As an engineer, I would reinvent

Nano around overall system efficiency.

A Nano EV revival could fulfil Ratan Tata’s

dream of affordable mobility.
